Interior Design and Art Fair RDS 2010

by SBINTERIORS on May 22, 2010

So this year we took the plunge and exhibited at the Interior Design and Art Fair RDS 2010 for the first time, what an exhilarating experience. Even though I have designed stands for The Interiors Association at Irish Antique Dealers Fair, this was different, alot was riding on the professionalism of the stand, great design, and having a service and product that will engage the public attention. We ticked all boxes (even if I say so myself), with generous compliments from the public and my design contemporaries alike.

The show was well attended with many people looking for ideas, some with new builds on the horizon, and plenty of talk about revamp, uplift and refurbishment. This is a very positive sign that people are not only thinking about doing work, but are going ahead with it. Obviously, value for money is imperative, and investing in design is key to a successful scheme, so our special “Refresh and Revitalise” consultation was greeted with great enthusiasm, filling a gap in the market for affordable and professional design advice.

The package is priced €269 and we recommend this package if you are considering refurbish or uplift. We give advice on how to get your scheme over the line and discuss everything from furniture layout & furniture suggestions, colour schemes, fabric, curtaining, upholstory, lighting, and accessories. We plan your schemes in stages and prioritise the essentials taking into considering time frame and budget. To book an appointment and take advantage of our fabric suppliers 10% summer promotion call Sarah on 087 967 5886.

So in all a successful show for us, and hopefully an inspirational treat for visitors, great to be talking about design and getting feedback on what people really want from an interior designer. We would definately do it again and use this as valuable learning experience and to improve for next year.

For more information on Refresh and Revitalise Consultations, call Sarah personally on 087 976 5886.

Day in the life of a Luxury Interior Designer

by SBINTERIORS on May 1, 2010

This week life as an Interior Designer was a real mixed bag. We received delivery of from Italy of 5 beautiful luxurious hand carved and gilded side tables with crystal table tops, they really well packed spent two hours removing the straw and packing, then 4 hours cleaning it up from warehouse, clients house, jeep, clothes and hair … shovelling up the stuff up … who said interior design was glamorous? And How things change in our profession, at the end the week I spent the afternoon filling large amounts of sparkly Swarovski crystals in between layers of glass and opal laminate which made up the structure of our illuminated pedestals, a bespoke commission from a high-end furniture maker, they looked dazzling lit up at night.
